been getting some strange e-mails today, just received this: fromunknown lxvwiliwvxl@omeostat.com to dateThu, May 26, 2011 at 3:04 PM subjectFwd: a friend hide details 3:04 PM (15 minutes ago) hurry -------- Original Message -------- Subject: a friend Date: Thu, 26 May 2011 10:15:03 -0500 From: unknown <lxvwiliwvxl@omeostat.com> To: orangecow.org/ffrevolution/1stuff/lynx4.jpgIndivisible -- there are this many: the square of a pentagon plus the identity, less 4 and 9. things to note: -the e-mail was forwarded -the image is lynx4 (changing it to lynx9 only brings up a 404 error) -the square of a pentagon, 25, plus itself (identity) minus 4 minus 9 gives us 37, which is a prime number, and therefore 'indivisible' but what does it mean? -why must we hurry?

I have a different interpretation of this email (which I did not receive, though I received the three other emails referring to a glyph on a hook, etc.):
square of a pentagon = 5^2 = 25, plus identity = 26, less 4 and 9 = 13
Dunno the significance of 13
EDIT: hmm, I was thinking of the multiplicative identity (which is 1), but 0 is the additive identity, so if it's not 13, or 37--as interdudial has surmised--then it may be 25 + 0 - 4 - 9 = 12
but 12 is not indivisible...

13 is a more manageable and significant number.. 13 links? hyperlinks, worldlinks, locations, links in a chain, 13 veves (or as the received nomenclature seems to be, glyphs) linking our world to something else?

Why would they tell us if its indivisible or not if the rest of the riddle gives an equation ? I can't figure out if this is a word puzzle or a math puzzle lol

OK OH 26 = alphabet? cause then d and i are the 4th and 9th letter and if you take that away from indivisible it's invisible? thats the o nly way it really make sense to me because if you take away ALL the i's it's nonsense... nvsvble... idk?

I waited but did not find you. I can try again today, but it is getting more dangerous. The time will be with the rest.

so I guess we failed again, if we're supposed to find someone I guess this refers to a location? The library seems to be significant, so maybe something in there, is there currently a special exhibit on large cats?
also meowth, where are you getting 26 from?

Our group will be in Harper 102 at 7:30 PM today to see if anything happens. We thought this would also a good opportunity to meet other searchers. If any of you would like to meet other people playing and share information, come at the aforementioned time. We will bring the three tapes we have found.
Hoping to meet someone, be they participants or puppetmasters.

Maybe worth noting: if you change the web address, you can get images of lynx1 through lynx5. They appear to be pretty innocent photos of lynxes though.

New email today:
Wed, Jun 1, 2011 at 4:48 AM subject Tonight hide details 4:48 AM (3 hours ago) Hello,
You must help, time is running out. George has told me that you are nearly ready and that you have the tools. After the sun falls, you must bring the machine to where you heard the music. I am unable yet to calibrate the exact location, our processors are slow, now that we have only our own resources to rely on. There is still time, we've made contact with the minds. They are still here, still living. We can save them.
I'll contact you again soon.
Dr. Skargaard

possibly it refers to the middle of the quad, where we saw those people lying down and that tape playing. if anybody can't think of anything else, i would guess that this is it.

We're getting two conflicting requests - one to go SE, the other NW. This probably means that we need to make a choice. One will be saved, one will be forsaken. Or is it a matter of someone is trying to mess us up from meeting with the person we need to help? I'm pretty sure I remember talks about how the security of the system/lab/whatever has been compromised, so it would make sense that we would get some false information to screw us up and prevent us from solving the problem. The thing is, I'm not entirely sure which characters are "good" or "bad", if that's such a thing. We only have one machine, but both messages seem to need us very badly. Which one do we choose? How do we know who really needs our help? WHAT DO WE DO???
